The Alliance – HJ, HLA, K-Line, MOSK, NYK, YML
The 3 newfounded Alliances are operational since beginning April, and offer new sailingschedules, transittimes and routes.
The number of carriers has been reduced the past year. Carrier Hanjin went bankrupt, Cosco and China Shipping merged, and more mergers to be expected
LIMITED SPACE
Space to tradelanes he Middle- and Far East are under pressure for the past months. We also feel this pressure to start in other tradelanes
The founding of the alliances has its effects with this issue. Vessels to be repositioned, negotiations with terminals, and the sailingschedules to be uplined.
It is expcted that the start of these alliances, within short notice, will not improve this situation for their capacity problems. In the new sailingschedules there
will be less oceanports, direct/indirect, or oceanports beng cancelled. The exact consequences from that is unknown yet.
Besides the acceptance of new bookings carriers will have an additional challenge, because of the present situation with their overbookings, there is a backlog
of containers at the terminals which firstly has to be solved
